Take a deep dive into one of the world’s great mysteries, the identity of Jack the Ripper. Victorian London, hansom cabs, gas – lit streets, “unfortunates.” The setting, the victims, the suspects, the police, and the wider implications of the murders will all be examined and analyzed in this presentation by Charlie Smith.
Charlie Smith is a Somerset resident, an historian, author, and Ripperologist. He is a member of the Whitechapel Society and has traveled to London and the scenes of the crimes several times. Mr. Smith has taught several courses as an instructor in the Rutgers OLLIRU program on a variety of topics.
Registration is appreciated but not required. This is an on-site, in-person program. Masks are recommended for library visitors, but they are not required. In-person programming capacity is limited and the Community Room will be set up for proper social distancing. The 36,018 square foot Demott Lane Branch is located in the Franklin Township municipal complex and provides a large community room for library programming, as well as additional meeting room space for community groups, study rooms, public access computers, and more.
