Organizing Files
Have you been saving documents and information to your computer only to discover that you cannot locate them when you need them? Do you fear you will run out of space? Learn how to create folders on the computer to organize information, and how to copy, move, and delete files as needed. As time permits, we will discuss what 'The Cloud' is and how it is used by programs like Dropbox and Google Drive, as well as the differences between cloud storage and local storage. You must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with basic computer concepts such as opening, closing, and re-sizing windows as well as basic internet searching before taking this class.
Intro to MS Word 2013
Learn the basics of this popular program. During this class, students will explore how to create and edit a Word document, while becoming familiar with the general tools of the program (based on the 2007 edition of the software). Although this class will cover only the basics, registrants must be able to use a mouse.

Intro to Social Networking
Discover how some popular social media tools work, and how and why you might want to create an account of your own. This primer to social networking will briefly explore sites such as Skype, Twitter, and Instagram. All attendees are welcome to observe, but registrants who are interested in creating an account of their own should already have a firm grasp of basic Internet searching.
Internet Basics
This class will include a brief history and description of what the internet is and how to navigate it using a web browser. We will do some basic searching and learn what makes up a good website. You are expected to know how to use a mouse before taking this class.

Learn the basics of this popular software program designed for storing, organizing and manipulating data. This class will discuss the parts of a spreadsheet, including columns, rows and cells. Participants will create a basic spreadsheet during class. You must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with basic computer concepts such as opening, closing, and re-sizing windows before taking this class.

Learn more of the basics of this popular software program designed for storing, organizing and manipulating data. Participants will create a basic spreadsheet during class and practice using some more of the tools in this program. Registrants should have already taken Introduction to MS Excel 2013 before taking this class.
Internet Security and Shopping Online
This class will focus on some of the steps that can be taken to be safer online. Attendees will do some basic searching and learn what makes up a good website. Tips for optimizing security settings in multiple browsers will be provided. Online shopping options will be explored along with some best practices.
Google Chrome and Other Google Apps
Google is more than just a search engine. This class will start by discussing the Google Chrome Internet browser and how it can be used to make web browsing easier. We will cover features like history, downloads and bookmarks as well as some hidden tips and tricks to get more out of a basic Google search. We will also talk about Google Drive including the productivity software that is available through a Google account that allows you to have access to your documents from multiple devices. You must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with basic computer concepts such as opening, closing, and re-sizing windows before taking this class.
Taming Your Digital Photo Collection
Thanks to advances in technology, we can take more photos than ever before. Taking all these pictures is great, but what do you do with all of them? In this class we will talk about how to manage all of your digital memories whether it be physical storage or cloud storage as well as making sure you can find them again when you want to reminisce. We will also compare different backup options so that your photos will last longer than your current phone or device.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a program that is part of the Microsoft Office Suite and is used to create presentations and visual aids. It is used in offices, classrooms and other settings. This class will cover how to create, design and format a presentation that fits the audience and how to best use it so that it fits the message you want to convey. You must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with basic computer concepts such as opening, closing, and re-sizing windows before taking this class.
Introduction to Gmail
Email has become an important part of daily life. Gmail is one of the most popular and easiest to use. This class will cover topics such as creating an account, moving all of your contacts from your old email account to your new Gmail account, sending attachments like pictures, organizing your inbox, and other advanced features that are available. We will also discuss the mobile app for people who access email on their smartphones or tablets. Having a Gmail account is not required for this class.
Using eBooks & Library Apps
Have you ever checked out an eBook from the library? We have two different apps through which to use eBooks: Hoopla and CloudLibrary. If you want an in-depth lesson on how to access the digital collection, this class is for you. We will also cover searching the catalogue and managing your account. You must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with basic computer concepts such as opening, closing, and re-sizing windows before taking this class.
iPhone part 1
A review of the basics for using your iPad or iPhone. In this class we will cover the use of WiFi or cellular internet connections, popular basic settings, and updating, organizing, and deleting your apps. Please bring your iPad and iPhone questions to class as well and we will try to answer what we can during the time allotted.

Know the basics of your iPhone and want to do more? Learn how to customize your phone, adjust privacy settings, use your camera, and more. Bring your devices and come with questions!
Bring your own laptop or device or borrow one of ours. No registration necessary but limited space is available; patrons will be admitted into the program on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The 36,018 square foot Demott Lane Branch is located in the Franklin Township municipal complex and provides a large community room for library programming, as well as additional meeting room space for community groups, study rooms, public access computers, and more.
