In commemoration of the 215th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birthday, join historian Greg Caggiano for a look at his life and political career, and how he became one of the most beloved (and controversial) presidents in American history. The program will also delve into the life and career of his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and cover the chain of events and politics that led to Lincoln's untimely demise at Ford's Theater.
Greg Caggiano is a published author, historian, lecturer, and consultant. He holds a degree in history from New Jersey City University and NJ State teaching certifications in history and elementary education. Since 2014, Greg has worked as an instructor for Brookdale Community College in their Lifelong Learning department. In his spare time, he has served on the Board of Directors of two museums: the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, and most recently the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society, housed at the Strauss Mansion Museum.
Registration is required. A link to the Zoom meeting will be included in your confirmation email (sent after you register) and a reminder email (sent one day prior to the program). If you do not receive the emails, please call the library at 732-873-8700 x 111 The 'meeting room' will open 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the program. The library reserves the right to reschedule programs.
