Join historian Greg Caggiano for a presentation on rumrunning and Prohibition in New Jersey, with a focus on Monmouth County. Hear stories of mob violence, corruption, local legends, and how towns built up for religious retreats exploded into underworlds of crime. The role of the Speakeasy and cocktails of the era will also be examined.
Greg Caggiano is a historian who has worked as an instructor for Brookdale Community College in their Lifelong Learning department since 2014. In his spare time, he has served on the Board of Directors of two museums: the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, and most recently the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society, housed at the Strauss Mansion Museum. A firm believer in volunteering and giving back to the community, he has helped fundraise tens of thousands of dollars for historic preservation over the years.
