One of the greatest and most harrowing stories of survival and courage in the history of exploration.
The weather may be hot, but the history is freezing! Join historian Greg Caggiano for a look at Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914. It is one of the greatest and most harrowing stories of survival and courage in the history of exploration. Learn the background information of the voyage, what went wrong, and how he and his crew refused to quit even when shipwrecked in total isolation at the bottom of the world. This lecture was first offered in 2022, in commemoration of the recent discovery of Shackleton's long-lost ship, the Endurance. Greg received the Invitational Lecture Grant Award from the Friends of Lifelong Learning for this presentation at Brookdale Community College.
